The Gateway Summit project includes the long-awaited
first major hotel and conference center in Putnam County,
with over 100 rooms and banquet facilities. This mixed
use project also will include a restaurant, pharmacy,
small office building, and retail. Additionally, Putnam
County and the Town of Carmel are seeking to arrange
for the YMCA to build a 65,000 square foot community
center that would include a performing arts center,
swimming pool, childcare services and other amenities.
All approvals are in place
for the overall mixed-use project and the subdivision
plat has been filed. The hotel component received site
plan approval, as well as approvals from such agencies
as New York City Department of Environmental Protection
and New York State Department of Transportation. The
hotel ground breaking is expected to occur in March
2008.
